How to Install Kodak EasyShare 5100 Ink Cartridges
One of the most important tasks of any printer owner is the installation of replacement cartridges. We have the step by step account for the Kodak EasyShare 5100 Printer ink installation procedure. The Kodak EasyShare 5100 All in one printer needs in order to print perfectly a print head and two ink cartridges – black and a five color cartridge. We will start with the print head instructions. Just so you know it is needed to dispense the ink from the ink cartridges onto the paper.
Print Head Installing Instructions
1) Make sure the EasyShare AiO is on.
2) Open the printer access door. The carriage moves to a center position.
3) Remove the printhead from its bag.
4) Remove and discard the clear plastic casing and the orange protective cap.
5) Place the printhead into the carriage.
6) Push against the back wall of the printhead until it clicks into place.
7) Install the ink cartridges

*Important Tips to Keep in Mind
a) Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent any drying of the ink.
b) Handle ink cartridge carefully to avoid ink transfer.
c) For the best quality prints store ink cartridges in a location where the temperature does not exceed 85° F (30° C).
How to Install
1) Tear open the black ink cartridge bag at the notch and remove the ink cartridge.
2) Remove and discard the orange cap.
3) Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead.
4) Press down on the ink cartridge until you hear it snap into position.
5) Tear open the color ink cartridge bag at the notch and remove the ink cartridge.
6) Remove and discard the orange cap.
7) Insert the color ink cartridge into the printhead.
8) Press down firmly on the cartridge until you hear it snap into position.
9) Close the printer access door.

To start it should be noted that the Kodak EasyShare 5500 All in One printer is a larger version of the EasyShare 5300 to be used in the office setting instead of a smaller home use. Upfront the best feature of this printer is that you get the expected photo print quality from a Kodak product, let’s face it when we think about Kodak we first and foremost think photos. Other great features are two host USB ports, a photo paper tray for size 4x6 photos, and last but very important low cost replacement ink cartridges.
With the Kodak EasyShare 5500 you can fax, copy, scan and print photos directly. Like most printers the copy features are standard with adjusting capabilities such as fit-to-page or poster copies. Unlike the little brother version this printer can copy photographs straight to photo paper. Talking about printing time well it’s not finishing first in the race. To start it needs at least 30 seconds to warm up and will let you know it’s getting ready with some noise. Printing five pages in black and white takes around one minute twelve seconds to come out. Color prints come out after two minutes forty seconds. Overall they are not bad so toughen up and learn patience people.
Let’s talk about printer ink! This printer has a two-tank ink system that holds a black pigment based ink cartridge and color tank that has the standard black, cyan, magenta and yellow plus a clear coating that is applied to photo prints. Kodak has made these 8 color ink cartridges with a low cost in mind and a pretty good page yield per cartridge. So basically you can print around 420 pages for less than $20 dollars when it comes to color prints. There are also XL versions that bump up the amount of pages to 770 black prints per cartridge. In case you were wondering there are compatible Kodak ink cartridges available for about eight dollars and remanufactured Kodak cartridges for less than six.
Being that we are talking about the ink cartridges one of the great things about this printer is the easiness of installation. OEM cartridges come with an orange plastic protection that once you take them off you can click them into place easily. If you work with inkjet printers as much as we do we appreciate easy installing instructions and most of all the actual process to be able to be done by a child ok maybe not a toddler but a ten year old can get it done without problems.
So our verdict about this printer is that if you are looking for great photo printing options on an office all in one printing machine this printer is right for you. Although there are other all in one option out there the low cost on replacement cartridges is a big issue especially in an office setting so keep it in mind.
