Printing Transparencies… anyone can! |
Most us think that if you’re not a teacher you’ll never use an overhead projector. With on-screen presentations becoming more popular, the life of transparencies might seem slipping away. But actually when doing a conference having a projector and slides helps you to add, edit and share easier. And let’s not even start on the cost of projector and screen plus adapters for your laptop.
We want to share today a simple but most useful tip on how to print on transparencies.
• You need to get the correct type of transparency paper for your printer. The type of paper differs for inkjet printers and laser printers.
• The best software for the job. Making sure you use software that will take into consideration the different settings of slides is very important. Of course it is better to recommend what you know and Microsoft Power Point is the one most commonly used, but you can use any word processor to design your transparencies.
• Test Drive your work. Before printing your transparency make sure you revise it and print it on regular paper to make sure it all comes out fine. It is more expensive to print on the specialty paper and then realizing you made a mistake.
• Printing. When ready to print make sure you change the settings of your printer to Transparency Film, Transparency Paper or the option your specific printer gives you.
• Because what you print is going to be seen on a bigger scale. Make sure you use the best quality printing. Your ink or toner cartridge has to be full in order for your transparencies to come out tip, top!
As I write this tip I remembered another way of using the overhead projector to create great art. If you want to paint big scale drawings or designs on your walls make a transparency of them and then project them to be able to draw, paint and decorate your walls. Works great for kids’ drawings you want to see always.
